Goat Show, I Will Make You Orphans

“Maybe being grown up isn’t about being sure,” says playwright-actor Jennifer Fawcett, “maybe it’s about believing in risks, in which case it’s closer to childhood than I thought.”

In her pseudo-autobiographical one-woman play, Goat Show: A Legacy Behind Barn Doors, Fawcett explores a father’s dream of a simple life and the adventures and anxieties of a family turned upside down after he abandons teaching to raise goats.

Her comic but heartfelt story is a reflection on the value of taking risks and following a dream, on the tenacity of love, and the uncertainty of growing up.

And, in a special late-night engagement, Goat Show director Shawn C. Lewis will perform his “one-man hip-hopera,” I Will Make You Orphans, after each performance of Goat Show.

Goat Show opens at Adirondack Theatre Festival (Charles R. Wood Theater, 207 Glen St., Glens Falls) on Tuesday (July 7) at 8 PM. I Will Make You Orphans opens Wednesday (July 8) at 9:45 PM. Both shows run through July 11. Tickets for Goat Show are $29; tickets for I Will Make You Orphans are $15. For more info, or to purchase tickets, call the ATF box office at 847-0800.
