Elena
Winther and Vladimir Pleshakov made beautiful music together
at their Pleshakov Music Center, a performance space in
Hudson; longtime WMHT-TV filmmaker Steve Dunn completed
his acclaimed documentary about the restoration of the
state Capitol, Flood of Lightand was promptly fired
in an orgy of budget cuts; Albanys Madison Theater
closed without notice, leaving puzzled would-be moviegoers
waiting on the sidewalk; Patrick Whelan turned his life
into stories through Meme Blacks weekly workshops,
intended for homeless writers, at the Womens Building;
and curator Sharon Bates made the Albany International
Airport Gallery a challenging and fascinating place for
travelers leaving or returning to the area to experience
art.
