Taking
a Stand
Gov.
George Pataki held a fundraiser at the Armory Center in
July for President Bush, and was met with activists picketing
for clean money and clean elections; an imam and a rabbi
held a Muslim-Jewish peace walk in Manhattan, joined by
Buddhist monks from Grafton, who then walked home from New
York City; a Halloween Critical Mass ride in Albany brought
out bike enthusiasts in costume to protest car culture and
call for more amenities for bicyclists; the Capital Pride
celebration kicked off with a parade through the Center
Square neighborhood, ending up at Washington Park for the
festivities of Pride Day; more than 100 people converged
at the food court in Crossgates Mall to protest the arrest
of Stephen Downs for wearing a peace T-shirt in the mall.
