Good, Bad, Ugly
A group of citizen environmental activists began a campaign
against Norlite Aggregate, a hazardous-waste incinerator
in Cohoes, hoping to say bye-bye to the facility’s
toxic nasties; the Stellamare, a Dutch cargo ship, tipped
and partially submerged in the Port of Albany on Dec. 9
trying to load a 300-ton generator—two crewmembers
were killed and one remains missing; the Center for Environmental
Sciences and Technology Management looked on as two new
neighbors—the Albany Nanotech buildings—rose,
making this plot at the corner of Washington Avenue Extension
and Fuller Road one of the hubs of the much-talked-about
coming technology boom.
