Out in the Evening |

One
of this year’s less publicized indie films with
Oscar buzz has its regional premiere this weekend
at Hudson’s Time & Space Limited. Andrew
Wagner’s Starting Out in the Evening
tells the story of an elderly, almost-forgotten
novelist who is rejuvenated by the interest
of an English grad student. As the writer, Frank
Langella gives a widely praised, Oscar-worthy
performance.
Starting
Out in the Evening will be screened tomorrow
(Friday, Jan. 18) at 7:30 PM, Saturday (Jan.
19) at 5:30 PM, and Sunday (Jan. 20) at 5 PM
at Time & Space Limited (434 Columbia St.,
Hudson). Admission is $7, $5 members. For more
info, call 822-8448.

Dresses Katherine Heigel
is always a bridesmaid, never a bride, in this romantic
comedy. Though, in real life, she just got hitched. Huh.
(PG-13)
Cassandra’s
Dream Woody Allen, still in England, directs this
blood-and-family melodrama with Ewan McGregor, Colin Farrell
and Tom Wilkinson. (PG-13)
Cloverfield
Watch New York City get wrecked, again. According to those
who’ve seen it, J.J. Abrams’ monster movie is short on exposition
but heavy on thrills. (And icky parasites.) We wish, however,
that a monster would land in D.C. or L.A. for a change.
(PG-13)
Mad
Money Zany comedy starring Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah
and Katie Holmes—and hopefully not that screaming
stock-and-bond nut from CNBC. (PG-13)
There
Will Be Blood P.T. Anderson directs Daniel Day Lewis
in this drama of a ruthless, early 20th-century oil baron.
With Paul Dano and Kevin J. O’Connor. It’s the most anticipated
film of the month. (R)
